Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) : Mestres de Heidegger
Posted by mccastro on 2009/5/14 8:40:45 (29 reads)

Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) : Jean-Luc Nancy: The being-with of being-there
Posted by mccastro on 2009/1/23 8:54:45 (133 reads)

Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) : The interaction of logos and mathesis in Heidegger's account of the advent of metaphysics

Reflexão sobre os termos logos e mathemata conforme expostos por Heidegger, em "Uma introdução à metafísica" e "O que é uma coisa?".
In Einführung in die Metaphysik (EM) Heidegger describes the advent of metaphysics by analyzing in detail the transition from the pre-socratic logos to what since Aristotle has come to be known as logic; in Die Frage nach dem Ding (DFD) (and in Heidegger 1950a ) the same story is told but this time by focusing on the decisive role of mathematics. EM mentions mathematics only indicidently, and not in the specific meaning of DFD; and to a lesser degree the same is true for logos in DFD. In both EM and DFD what makes Heidegger's presentation especially interesting is the original way he translates key terms from Greek thought, specifically logos and ta mathemata.

Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) : Beyond the Good: Not Hither the Good (& Not Hither Beyond the Good)

D.G. Leahy
With reference to the Platonic notion of the Good as ‘beyond being’, Heidegger writes in Contributions to Philosophy (From Enowning), trans. P. Emad and K. Maly (Bloomington and Indianapolis, 1999), pp. 146f.: "In beingness (ουσία) ειναι, being, is intimated as what is somehow other, which is not fully fulfilled in ουσία. Thus, in going further on the same way, i.e., by grasping presencing, one tries to go beyond beingness: επέκεινα της ουσίας . . . . But since the only question concerns beings and their beingness, it can never encounter be-ing itself or come from it. The επέκεινα can thus be determined only as something that henceforth designates beingness as such in its relation to man (ευδαιμονία), as the αγαθόν, befitting [das Taugliche] that founds all befittedness—thus as condition for ‘life’, for ψυχή, and thus its essence itself . . . . The επέκεινα της ουσίας as αγαθόν (that means: the fundamental denial of any further and orginary questioning of beings as such, i.e., questioning of being) . . ."

Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) : Theological Resonances of "Der Satz vom Grund"

Joseph S. O'Leary
Is God the ground of the universe, the ground of our being? Has this question any meaning? Like so many religious questions it is tantalizingly obscure. Under analysis each of its terms dissolves into the thinnest of mists, which we no longer much like to hail as the thickest of mysteries. What is God? What is ‘the universe’? What is ground? What is ‘our being’? The tone of these questions is now more likely to be one of irritated puzzlement than one of reverent wonder. One is tempted to jettison all these determinations as survivals of an older metaphysical culture, or to regard them as only murky expressions of religious sentiment: Faust’s Gefühl ist alles;/ Name ist Schall und Rauch. Some theologians attempt to rethink theism by dissolving God into Buddhist emptiness or into the Lacanian Real. God then becomes a quality of things rather than their creative foundation and cause.

Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) : Absolutely Divine Everyday: Tracing Heidegger's thinking on godliness

Michael Eldred
This paper traces Heidegger's thinking on the divine from early to late, calling at some of the salient stations along the way, starting with the 1920s lectures on Plato and Aristotle. One major point of call is Hegel's dialectical-speculative thinking of the Absolute which Heidegger will characterize as onto-theo-logic. In overcoming the hyphen between 'onto' and 'theo', Heidegger will neutralize the venerable metaphysical ambiguity between the ontic and the ontological and hence also between the ontological and theological. This clears the way for thinking the Absolute as the divine embedded prosaically, at home in the everyday itself. How close the uncanny divine is to home is apparent also in Heidegger's retelling of the anecdote about Heraclitus in the kitchen. The trace ends with a brief comment on "the last god". The appendix following endeavours to rethink Aristotle's famous god and godliness in his Metaphysics.

Curso do Prof. Dreyfus sobre Ser e Tempo Div I, em 2007, gravado em mp3.
Philosophy 185 Heidegger 11:00-12:30 PM | 159 Mulford Instructor Hubert Dreyfus
Philosophy 185 - Fall 2007 - One of the most important philosophical works of the twentieth century, Being and Time is both a systematization of the existential insights of Kierkegaard and Nietzsche and a radicalization of Husserl's phenomenological account of intentionality. What results is an original interpretation of the human condition leading to an account of the nature and limitations of philosophical and scientific theory. This account has important implications for all those disciplines that study human beings.
